PRE AP English II "I Heart U" process/ Topics

Topics to choose from for your essay:

The Importance of Forgiveness
How your surroundings can effect you

Choose a topic

Step 1-

Rewrite the prompt
Brainstorm 8-10 options for that topic

Step 2-

Make a four square grid
Narrow your options down to 4
Put one of the four options in each square on the grid

Now for the "I love u" process

I = Voice
Love= Emotion
U= Unique

For each square go through the process of deciding whether or not you can include enough voice, emotion, uniqueness with that option.  If in square #1 you can definitely write with voice, place an "I" in the square.  If you know you can fill it with emotion, place a "heart symbol" in the square.  If you can't quite make it unique enough, leave the "u" off.  The square that has all three will be the paper you write.  You may fill three squares with an "I", "heart", and "U" and at that point you will need to choose and see which one would be the easiest for your thoughts to flow.

Once you have done this, begin your rough draft.  You will have all class period on Tuesday to write your rough draft.  You will also receive your rubric for the paper on that day.
